Asnax
Sculptural forms emerge at the meeting point between
mineral memory and organic transformation.
Asnax (Nazlı Asafrana) is an artist born in Geneva
and based in İstanbul. Her practice explores the ways organic systems grow, fracture and transform through the lens of mineral memory. Through sculptural forms created with glass and hybrid materials, she navigates the space between the ephemeral and enduring, fragility and resilience .
Working primarily with crushed glass, layered translucent materials and ceramic elements, she develops sculptural structures that move between geological stillness and living change. These works reveal how accumulation, pressure and imbalance shape processes of transformation
Her ongoing research unfolds through the Mineral Mushroom works and the evolving Fractured bloom works, forming part of a broader sculptural framework that investigates the morphologies by which landscapes organise themselves and store memory.
Before focusing on sculpture, she studied Graphic design at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts
and received her MFA from Boston University.
Her background in corporate design and illustration
continues to inform structural clarity of her sculptural language.
Her work has been presented at he Cling exhibition at Yapı Kredi Bomontiada, (2021 ) Istanbul.Contemporary Istanbul Bloom (2022), Contemporary Istanbul (2023),
